Special Investigations Unit

The Special Investigation Unit is comprised of Investigators who are generally responsible for:

• The suppression of all illegal drug activity from street level operation up to and including major criminal conspiracy efforts; 

• Maintaining and developing intelligence files relative to narcotics trafficking;

• Developing and managing confidential informants and maintaining confidential informant files of the department;

• Initiating and supervising counteractive measures;

• Interagency coordination, cooperation and communication relative to enforcement of state and federal drug laws;

• Other specialized investigations as assigned by the commanding officer; and

• Management of all illegal drug evidence in the department’s custody.
