Special Investigations Unit

The Special Investigation Unit is comprised of Investigators who are generally responsible for:

	The suppression of all illegal drug activity from street level operation up to and including major criminal conspiracy efforts;
	Maintaining and developing intelligence files relative to narcotics trafficking;
	Developing and managing confidential informants and maintaining confidential informant files of the department;
	Initiating and supervising counteractive measures;
	Interagency coordination, cooperation and communication relative to enforcement of state and federal drug laws;
	Other specialized investigations as assigned by the commanding officer; and
	Management of all illegal drug evidence in the department’s custody.
