Sex Offenders

Welcome to our department's Sex Offender home page.  The NY State Sex Offender Registry helps protect our families and communities by requiring sex offenders to register, and providing this information to law enforcement and the public.  You are now on the Saratoga Springs Police Department's Sex Offender Registry Page.  Investigator Glen Vidnansky is our department's sex offender tracking Investigator and community liaison for citizens wishing to view the sex offender registry at the police department.  The department additionally provides a link directly into the NY State Department of Criminal Justice Services Statewide Sex Offender Registry below, where you may search the registered level 2 and 3 sex offenders living in the community by either zip code or county.

You may reach Investigator Vidnansky at (518) 584-1800 ext 604, or by eMail at:  SOR@saratogapolice.org

Sex offenders are classified by risk level:

Level one (low risk);
Level two (medium risk); and
Level three (high risk).

Level 1 offenders are required to register for a minimum of twenty years, and level 2 and 3 offenders for life.

Any person may search the Subdirectory of Level 2 and 3 Sex Offenders by clicking on the link below.  The NY State Department of Criminal Justice Services is barred by law from posting information on Level 1 (low level) sex offenders, or those with a pending risk level, on their public site.  However, they can tell you if a particular individual is on the registry.  Call DCJS at 1-800-262-3257 with the name and at least one other identifier (an exact address, date of birth, driver’s license number, or a social security number) and they will tell you if that individual is a registered sex offender in New York.

Chapter 680 of the Laws of 2005 requires law enforcement to compile, maintain, and update a listing of vulnerable organizations within their jurisdiction for purposes of notifying such organizations whenever a registered sex offender moves into their neighborhood.  Vulnerable Organizations include, but are not limited to, entities such as the superintendent of schools, superintendent of parks, public and private libraries, public and private school bus transportation providers, day care centers, nursery schools, preschools, neighborhood watch groups, neighborhood associations, community centers, civic associations, nursing homes, victim advocacy groups, places of worship, and groups of similar nature.  If you represent or qualify as a vulnerable entity and would like the department Sex Offender Tracking Investigator to notify you when registered sex offenders move into our community, please complete the form below and submit it on line.
