Motor Vehicle Accident Sends Two to Hospital
At 5:05am this morning, officers responded to a serious personal injury
accident on Brook Road between Rt 29 and Rt 9N. Upon arrival, officers
found a 2005 Kia off the east side of the roadway and
turned over on to the passenger side. The driver of the vehicle Joan
Ross, Age 61, Ballston Spa, NY, was still inside the vehicle. Ross was
complaining of various injuries, was removed from the vehicle by members
of the Saratoga Springs Fire Department and transported to Albany
Medical Center by Helicopter for treatment. The second vehicle, a 2011 Nissan being operated by a Tina Spina, Age 24, Ballston
Spa, NY, was found to be facing north in the southbound lane and Spina
was trapped in the vehicle. Spina was removed from the vehicle by SSFD
using the "Jaws" to enter the vehicle. Spina was transported to Albany
Medical Center by ambulance. The investigation indicates Spina was
traveling south on Brook Road, Ross was traveling north on Brook Road,
Spina appears to have crossed over in to the on-coming lane and struck
Ross vehicle head on causing the accident. It appears alcohol may be a
contributing factor in the accident. At this time the investigation
continues and charges are pending. Last known medical update was that
both Ross and Spina were still being treated for their injuries. The
injuries appear to be non-life threatening. Brook Road was closed from
5:05am to 10:30am for accident reconstruction.
